hayden-harnett, excellent travel bags and luggage | cherrypatter- spot-on ideas for food, shops and things to do in new york
...now that my travel is a bit more reasonable, and more like a day here and there so i don't need to worry so much about my stuff and maybe i'm just a wee bit more sensitive to how i look as i trek through the likes of pittsburgh and baltimore with luggage, i have discovered the great style of hayden-harnett, two designers based in greenpoint where their great original store is located. ... i am particularly smitten with their paule marrot editions of travel totes ...

Maries Vintage: drooling over hayden-harnett
I headed over to Hayden-Harnett today to check out their end of summer sale and found some stunning (not on sale!) fall items. I cannot even begin to contemplate affording them, but that is probably for the best, as slightly affordable prices would result in a spree of bank account destroying proportions.

Handbags, Dresses, Doughnuts, and Chelsea Ghosts at Hayden-Harnett's Fall Turnout
One of our favorite handbag and shoe line's Hayden-Harnett, had a fun and festive presentation last week, debuting not just their accessories but their new collection of womenswear. ... Tucked in a suite at the Chelsea Hotel, models lounged about nibbling doughnuts and candy, while visitors were encouraged to discover all the sumptuous handbags, clutches, open-toed oxford pumps, and other delights stashed here and there in the hotel room.

public personae » Blog Archive » Hayden-Harnett: Cargo Cult
I feel like I’ve walked into the wrong room for a moment as the first thing I see are beautiful twins with a massive conjoined braid feeding each other cheese puffs and milk duds! ... The hotel suite was transformed into the abode of a cult of unsettlingly beautiful women who, like remote pacific island cargo cults, pray for beautiful treasures to wash upon their suite shore. ... Each room contained a scene, whether it be a seance ritual in the living room, a bedroom scene with girls lounging amongst a flotsam of shoes, bags, and jewelry, to a girl reading a novel and stuffing her face with hearts of chocolate in the bathroom. ...

Fashionista - Fashion Designers, Models, Shopping, Style - Hanging Out in Hayden-Harnett
It actually felt like a party - The clothes, shoes, bags, bracelets and belts were strewn about the four-room suite, sometimes in drawers, sometimes on the models (who posed with Milk Duds, Whoppers and whatever else), sometimes hanging off lampshades, pretty much everywhere. ... Toni wanted the presentation to give you the impression that the models were just a bunch of girls that live in the room, and never leave (hence the Rapunzel braids) except to sometimes go out and buy candy. ... And it worked - by the end, you pretty much only wanted to deck yourself out in a leather necklace and kimono-style dress, eat Twizzlers and never leave. ...

Fashionista - Fashion Designers, Models, Shopping, Style - Spring's Sprung at Hayden-Harnett
Toni Hacker showed her signature HH shapes - the tripled coin purse, studded leather bracelets and flowy wrap dresses. We also got to see, and touch, some amazing leather jackets and vests as well as the new shoe collection. ... But it was really the ruffled and sometimes printed swimwear we wanted to walk away with. The cuts were flattering and the colors were easy to wear without being too girly.

HAYDEN HARNETT F/W 09 PRESENTATION
After seven days of non-stop runways shows and presentations, I was delighted to stop in at the Chelsea Hotel, Room 219, where the Hayden Harnett presentation was being held. ... Designer Toni Hacker and her business partner Ben Harnett brought in tons of furniture (think armoires, fainting chairs, mirrors…), and accessories (Ouija board, old records, books, candles…), to bring their presentation to life. ... The presentation, in fact, came from designer Toni Hacker reading about the Cargo Cult in an encyclopedia. ... From there, Hacker dreamed-up her own cult of girls who live in an apartment together and don’t ever leave it other than when they go get food at the corner bodega – hence the junk food, long Rapunzel-like hair on the models, and abundance of tchotchkes.

The World According to Jessica Claire: Bag Crush: Hayden-Harnett’s Clara
For the past few months I have been on the lookout for a durable summer bag in a do-able price range. It’s hard to invest in a light-coloured bag that you know is just going to get filthy so I was frustrated that there seemed to be no amazing bags for me in my price range. It wasn’t until the end of June in NYC did I find something swoon-worthy...

Tania Marmolejo - Height: 5' 10"

I am a painter/illustrator. I paint and exhibit in New York and the Dominican Republic. My illustrations and character designs have been in food magazines, childrens books, MTV, Hyperion, Scholastic books, PBS, among others.

Why did you choose this look?
I am attracted to easy, flowy looks that have a slight edge to them. If I feel romantic one day, I wear more bohemian pieces, but never too pretty. I like edgier looks too, and wearing interesting jewelry -- usually larger pieces that make a statement. My look has to be comfortable, I walk everywhere!

What she's wearing:
  • FORTUNA Dress, Pebble $308
  • ZEE Tote, Eucalyptus Colorblock $518
  • CELINA Signature Cuff, Lagoon $78
  • ATHENA Sandal, Moonbeam $158
  • oblik atelier "slight disturbances" necklace*, $185

Kelley Gudahl - Height: 5'3"

What do you do IRL?
I am a Marketing Manager at Gameloft, a video game company. I spend my days playing video games (even though I am no good at them), and trying to convince consumers why they should buy our games. I love everything about New York, especially Brooklyn. I am constantly spending my time discovering new little shops and restaurants that are unique to my neighborhood. I enjoy hanging out with my friends, taking advantage of all the fun free things you can do in NY in the summer time, eating as many sweets as possible, running, reading, collecting shoes and handbags, trying out new recipes (and even creating some of my own) and decorating my tiny studio. Someday I will own a mini dachshund.

Your URL?
www.gottaloveny.blogspot.com - I am originally from Florida, so I write about all my adventures living in NY for all my friends who do not. OK, and some that do live in NY. :)

Why did you choose this look?
This wrap dress was simple, easy, gorgeous, and comfortable! It goes perfectly well with my easy going lifestyle. The dress can be more casual for day, or paired with some cute heels for a night out. For my day look, I chose some flats/wedges (I am not sure which images you are using so adjust as necessary) that were fun and flirty. The handbag was a clear choice. Which such amazing detailing, the bag was perfect for summer. It's just the right size to carry my sunglasses, money for an ice cream cone with rainbow sprinkles and tiny umbrella in case of an afternoon rainstorm.

What she's wearing:
  • HELENA Wrap Dress, Papaya Ginkgo $324
  • ORYX Clutch, Brandy $325
  • ISKIA Link Wedge, Brandy $238
  • oblik atelier "folded" ring*, $390
  • metal frame sunglasses**, $24

*available at both the Brooklyn and the Manhattan Hayden-Harnett retail locations
**sunglasses available only at the Brooklyn location.
