Hayden-Harnett Collects: John Comito

Sketch by John Comito - John Comito Gallery

John Comito is a Brooklyn born artist. He graduated from the School of Visual Arts in 1982, and became a figurative realist painter. His technically astute paintings which rely heavily on craft and tradition have been shown at Forum Gallery in NYC, and The Center of the Earth Gallery in Charlotte, North Carolina. He enjoys long walks on the beach and dry martinis, and he likes spending time with his wife, four cats, and African Grey Parrot. Gallery.

John also works at Hayden-Harnett, in our warehouse.

Hayden-Harnett Collects: Lynn Talbot

The Harnett of Hayden-Harnett might have a soft spot for Tromp L'Oeil paintings due to his famous ancestor, but there is no trick to Lynn Talbot's beautifully mysterious compositions. Her still-lives are meticulously composed and painted with skill, but a higher power than craft illuminates her works.

The Golden Ball. See this and other work in our design:shop and at lynntalbot.com.

UPDATE: I always refer to Harnett for certain things; he is so meticulous and mysterious. I was just ruminating on the European still life tradition being basically religious in nature but Harnett and his contemporaries being sly social commentators, a more important role than they are given credit for, as part of creating a tradition of American secular thinking. --LT

Bag-O-Scope

Bag-O-ScopeHaving trouble deciding on a bag? Ever wonder what the stars have to say about what handbag you should carry? Ponder no further. Hayden-Harnett has done the work for you. We've pulled down the old astrological tomes off the top shelf, blown off the dust and pored over charts and numbers. We've tracked the constellations in the sky, and noticed a lot of them actually seem to be carrying handbags. Don't delay, enter your birthdate in our cosmological calculator, and find out which bags are right for you, today! Bag-O-Scope. Illustrated by Irit Baniel.
