IRL: Style, issue 13

irl issue 13Galit - Height: 165 cm (5'4")
What do you do IRL?
Lawyer, theatre, traveling, food, fashion, being with family and friends, photography. I find inspiration from the company I keep and from the places I travel. For me, travel gives the gift of perspective.

Your URL?
I love The Sartorialist - favourite fashion/photography website. http://thesartorialist.blogspot.com/

Why did you choose this look?
Simple, elegant, clean, understated, feminine and edgy. I feel most comfortable in clothing made from natural, quality materials.

What she's wearing:
  • HELENA Wrap Dress, black $324
  • SONIA Tote, Blueberry $548
  • CELINA Signature Cuff, Eucalyptus/blueberry $78
  • MEMPHIS Cutout Pump, Blueberry colorblock $240

Sandra Cha - Height: 5'4 1/2"
What do you do IRL?
I work in the fashion & music industry. Also behind 102M, startup jewelry line, my sister started. I love to travel, entertain/be entertained, get lost in flea markets, being a beach bum and always love it when it's a wine night.

Your URL?
102m.tumblr.com (sister's jewelry site)!

Why did you choose this look?
I was in between a few looks. ( The wrap dress & the colorful Pandora Flutter tunic- Both very fun and flirty). But I ended up choosing this dress because the back caught my eye. I loved the way the dress flowed and felt against the skin. The back was just gorgeous! It was sexy without being overly revealing. It is simple + playful and can easily go from day- night. And because I do not live in the city, I look for versatile pieces that I can wear to work yet be ready if I have to go to an event or dinner later that night. Because we all know that in New York, someone is always going to an event or someone always wants to have dinner. And it's one of those "go-to" pieces that when you're running late, you can always just wake up, roll out of bed and throw on, knowing that it will look good, which is key. *I know it’s summer but
I had to add the trench because I love coats, jackets and this one was a perfect complement to the dress. Normally I would go with black shoes, however I appreciated the color combo and how it broke up the gray. * Heel could be a little taller. The bag: well, it speaks for itself.

What she’s wearing:
  • PHAEDRA Dress, Black $298
  • PARKER Canvas Trench, Pebble $298
  • TROPHY Bag, Black $678
  • MEMPHIS Cutout Pump, Moonbeam $240
  • ISKIA Link Wedge, Black $238
  • OBLIK ATELIER GUGGENHEIM ring* $375

IRL: Style, issue 12

irl issue 12Laurel Wells - Height: 5'7"
What do you do IRL?
I design clothing for Hayden Harnett, practice and sometimes teach yoga, play in bands, and turn my apartment into a national disaster area with my frequent manic craft projects.

Your URL?
www.laurelwells.com

Why did you choose this look?
The print on this dress is so gorgeous and eye-catching without being flashy, and I love the element of surprise as it just peeps out from under the coat. The Athena sac is perfect for me because I ride my bike everywhere and the strap is long enough to wear cross-body. The shoes are just fantastic--extremely comfortable (I know this for a fact--I broke them in at the Masters in Augusta) and dressy enough to wear at night. I adore Oblique jewelry, it is so delicate and this necklace doesn't overwhelm the bold print on the dress.

What she's wearing:
  • HELENA Wrap Dress, painterly $324
  • PARKER Canvas Trench, crown blue $298
  • ATHENA Sac, Brandy $398
  • ATHENA Cuff, moonbeam $66
  • ATHENA Sandal, Moonbeam $158
  • IRIS Tassel Clip, Multi-color $28
  • OBLIK ATELIER GUGGENHEIM ring* $375
  • OBLIK ATELIER "Slice" necklace* $185

Sara Zucker - Height: 4'10" in flats, up to 5'3" in heels
What do you do IRL?
Right now I'm a "professional intern", working in the archive of a Vanderbilt mansion/museum. My free time has been spent cooking new and old family recipes, keeping my hands busy with arts & crafts projects, taking voice lessons, and applying for jobs since my completion of graduate school two weeks ago.

Your URL?
www.sarazucker.com
blog.styld.me

Why did you choose this look?
I chose this look because I am trying to branch out of my usual layered look of vintage flannels and hoodies. The silk of this dress was so buttery, I couldn't help myself, and grey is my favorite shade. The purse added the perfect pop of color and its threading matched the detail of the dress. I loved the sandals and was shocked at how well they fit (it's so hard to find size 5s!).

What she’s wearing:
  • FORTUNA Dress, Pebble $308
  • LORCA Turnlock, Lagoon $335
  • ISKIA Link Wedge, Black $238
  • OBLIK ATELIER “the fall” earrings*, $300

IRL: Style, issue 11

irl issue 11Crosby Noricks - Height: 5'6"
What do you do IRL?
I am the founder of PR Couture (www.prcouture.com), a successful blog about all things Fashion PR, Social Media Strategist for Red Door Interactive in San Diego, CA, intermittent kitten foster mama with the Rosebud Society, semi-motivated hula hooping trickster learner, hearts and unicorns and feathers and photo booth photo collector. The kind of lady that takes a trip to NYC with her BFF to celebrate my my recent birthday and putting things on the agendy like jet-lagged soggy
adventures to Greenpoint to visit HH in person, throwing an impromptu PR Couture party with Smashing Darling and Nolcha, and dressing up like a silver mermaid in the pouring rain at the Coney Island Mermaid Parade.

Your URL?
www.prcouture.com

Why did you choose this look?
Perhaps it was arriving at HH in the pouring rain rather soaked through, but I loved the decadent feeling of this silk dress, as well as its twirl potential and unique style. There was no way I was not going to wear a gold feather crown, so it was an added bonus that the two went well together. Having a bit of an obsession with the color gray, and loving flat boots, I paired the ensemble with the riding boots and added some extra accessories, well, just because I could! It's the kind of outfit I dream about the whole world wearing just for kicks, on the way to the grocery store or at the park.

What she's wearing:
  • ARTEMIS Dress, Ginger $348
  • STACI Crossbody, Platinum Tejus Lizard $258
  • ATHENA Cuff, Moonbeam $66
  • CELINA Signature Cuff, yam $78
  • PCM Headpiece, Goldie Luxe $98*
  • MADELEINE Riding Boot, eucalyptus $448

Marie Rounsavell - Height: 6'
What do you do IRL?
By day, I'm a technical writer for a great big staffing company. I write business proposals and responses for requests from public and government entities. Despite sounding like a total snoozer, this job that allows me to travel all over the country hunting down new opportunities to put people to work and it can be really rewarding. By night (and by weekend and pretty much all the time in the back of my mind) I am thinking about indie arts and crafts and the handmade movement. I used to do a lot more writing on the subject and am working on a relaunch of that effort later this summer.

Your URL?
marimello.tumblr.com / @marimellome

Why did you choose this look?
I know everyone wears it here on IRL, but I just love this dress! I have to throw on some leggings because it's short on me, but I could see wearing this sans leggings with something a teeny bit longer, fluffier, and brighter underneath. My work adventures sometimes put a damper on my bright and fluffy looks, but I can't help standing out in a room of government contractors, so why bother! In a heartbeat, I'd keep the bobbles and bright bag, and wear this dress like long top with some wide leg pants. Speaking of shoes these are fab! Super comfy and just the right height.

What she’s wearing:
  • HELENA Wrap Dress, Black $324
  • HAVANA Large Hobo, Lagoon $498
  • JOEY Wide Cuff, Black Crinkle Patent $80
  • ATHENA Cuff, black $66
  • GREENPOINT Cork Wedge, Black/grey $228
  • brandish "krash" pick ring*, $80
  • dot iris headband $17

IRL: Style, issue 10

irl issue 10Lauren - Height: 5' 4"
What do you do IRL?
I am the training supervisor for Henry Street Settlement's Peer Training Institute while studying for my Master's in Social Work from NYU. At Henry Street, I instruct teens in important life skills (decision-making skills, relationships, and sexual health), and conduct individual and group counseling. When not at work or in the library, you can usually find me having dinner with friends, at a farmer's market (buying food for dinner with friends), or in a dance studio (before dinner with friends).

Your URL?
www.freerice.com

Why did you choose this look?
I chose the dress because I felt like a goddess of doom in it. But kind of a sexy, flirty, goddess, as in come and get me if you can. The wedges were a perfect and comfortable compliment to the dress. I love big necklaces, heavy enough so that you know what you're wearing at all times, and this gorgeous one was no exception. I grabbed the clutch as soon as I saw it, not only because it was shiny silver, but also because it brought out the grays in my dress, shoes, and necklace. I thought of the cuff as my piece of flair, if you know what I mean... The lightweight trench and colorful umbrella completed my stylin' outfit for a rainy day.

What she's wearing:
  • PHAEDRA Dress, Black $298
  • PARKER Canvas Trench, Pebble $298
  • KOKO Mini Bag, Steel $298
  • RAMONE Studded Slim Cuff, Papaya $90
  • GREENPOINT Cork Wedge, black/grey $228
  • Medallion necklace*, $135

Joanne Lee - Height: 5'9"
What do you do IRL?
I design handbags for Hayden-Harnett and eat/drink my way around NYC.

Your URL?
www.hel-looks.com -- I love how the Finns dress without fear.

Why did you choose this look?
This is the perfect "I look so put together, but really, I just threw this on!" dress. It's very polished but super low-maintenance and the color and fabric are the perfect combination I'm looking for this season; a flattering nude with a pop of bright blue, and it feels flowy and cool in hot humid New York summer! The sandals are perfect for walking around town in style and comfort, and I'm carrying the Conrad in ginger to contrast the flesh-tone palette. The bag is just the right size and has a pocket for everything I need in a snap and converts to a crossbody shape. People are definitely going to be checking out this outfit on the subway platform.

What she's wearing:
  • PENELOPE Dress, Bisque Boudoir $275
  • CONRAD Shoulder Bag, Ginger $450
  • JOEY Wide Cuff, platinum lizard $80
  • RAMONE Studded Slim Cuff, Black $90
  • IBIZA Slide, Platinum Lizard $120
  • ginkgo leaf necklace*, $60

IRL: Style, issue 9

irl issue 9Tania Marmolejo - Height: 5' 10"

What do you do IRL?
I am a painter/illustrator. I paint and exhibit in New York and the Dominican Republic. My illustrations and character designs have been in food magazines, childrens books, MTV, Hyperion, Scholastic books, PBS, among others.

Your URL?
www.taniamarmolejo.com and for my doodles: tania-marmolejo.blogspot.com

Why did you choose this look?
I am attracted to easy, flowy looks that have a slight edge to them. If I feel romantic one day, I wear more bohemian pieces, but never too pretty. I like edgier looks too, and wearing interesting jewelry -- usually larger pieces that make a statement. My look has to be comfortable, I walk everywhere!

What she's wearing:
  • FORTUNA Dress, Pebble $308
  • ZEE Tote, Eucalyptus Colorblock $518
  • CELINA Signature Cuff, Lagoon $78
  • ATHENA Sandal, Moonbeam $158
  • oblik atelier "slight disturbances" necklace*, $185

Kelley Gudahl - Height: 5'3"

What do you do IRL?
I am a Marketing Manager at Gameloft, a video game company. I spend my days playing video games (even though I am no good at them), and trying to convince consumers why they should buy our games. I love everything about New York, especially Brooklyn. I am constantly spending my time discovering new little shops and restaurants that are unique to my neighborhood. I enjoy hanging out with my friends, taking advantage of all the fun free things you can do in NY in the summer time, eating as many sweets as possible, running, reading, collecting shoes and handbags, trying out new recipes (and even creating some of my own) and decorating my tiny studio. Someday I will own a mini dachshund.

Your URL?
www.gottaloveny.blogspot.com - I am originally from Florida, so I write about all my adventures living in NY for all my friends who do not. OK, and some that do live in NY. :)

Why did you choose this look?
This wrap dress was simple, easy, gorgeous, and comfortable! It goes perfectly well with my easy going lifestyle. The dress can be more casual for day, or paired with some cute heels for a night out. For my day look, I chose some flats/wedges (I am not sure which images you are using so adjust as necessary) that were fun and flirty. The handbag was a clear choice. Which such amazing detailing, the bag was perfect for summer. It's just the right size to carry my sunglasses, money for an ice cream cone with rainbow sprinkles and tiny umbrella in case of an afternoon rainstorm.

What she's wearing:
  • HELENA Wrap Dress, Papaya Ginkgo $324
  • ORYX Clutch, Brandy $325
  • ISKIA Link Wedge, Brandy $238
  • oblik atelier "folded" ring*, $390
  • metal frame sunglasses**, $24

*available at both the Brooklyn and the Manhattan Hayden-Harnett retail locations
**sunglasses available only at the Brooklyn location.

Where the Boys Are...

It's no secret around the design office that I'm totally into men's apparel and style right now, so when I read an article in the NY Times style magazine about Sid Mashburn's amazingly perfect shop in Atlanta, I was instantly in superawe mode. Sigh...I want to go and shop for Ben (and myself!) so so so badly, but time to watch the $'s.

Oddly enough, our superlative apparel designer, Laurel Wells, went home for the holiday break and popped into the southern mecca of homme chic after I begged her to simply touch the door and then touch my hand. Well, SID TOUCHED HER TOTE!!!!!!!!!!

Sid, you are amazing and the Hayden-Harnett spring 10 collection is dedicated to you (and nomads...and lava...and, uhm, abyssinian kittens).

PS- I NEED to buy the neon Caran d'Ache pens from you for my summer writing. do you take phone orders from wishful girls?

Cheers and thank you for being my new style icon (who thankfully has a lovely sense of humor).

-Toni

Word is... Hayden-Harnett on Gossip Girl Tonight

Here at the HH warehouse it isn't rare to find oneself in the midst of a conversation over the previous nights cable lineup. Sadly, with only 4 channels in my apartment I rarely get to join in on the fun. So this weekend when the weather looked gloomy, my roommate Ashley (a fellow HH-er) and I decided to binge on some DVDs.

As Ashley looked for deep, intriguing movies, I stood in the aisle known as 'sitcom heaven' pondering what season to add to my collection first. I decided on Gossip Girl -- I had never seen it, but had heard all the rage, seen the Times Square billboards, & even have a male friend who Tivos it religiously.

As Ashley and I settled down this Saturday afternoon we had no idea what we were in for. Needless to say, I didn't leave my house all weekend... hardly even left my couch. I hit the ignore button on my phone, neglected to study for a microeconomics test: it was "XOXO Gossip Girl" until 2am Monday morning rolled around. As we finished the last episode we sunk into a funk: what were we going to do without GG?

But there's good news: a new season has started and an episode is on tonight. And then the word came through: Hayden-Harnett will be on Gossip Girl tonight!! Serena van der Woodsen will be sporting the Corcovado Tote in Cordovan! So, at 8pm tonight, Ashley and I will be on the edge of our couch looking to spot the Wyeth on our new favorite show. Hope to see you there! -- Melissa

Sneak Peek! Our Spring'09 "MUSE" collection

Spring 2009 Preview!

Hurrah, NYC fashion week! We're just starting to seriously plan our Fall wardrobe and it's already time to consider spring dresses, sandals, and bags for 2009. Yep, the fashion carrot is ever-dangling and looks quite juicy for spring.

Our big news? We're launching shoes and swimwear fit for the muses of Xanadu. My ultimate dream is that Olivia Newton-John would arrive in full Kira/Xanadu regalia and shop in our Greenpoint store and serenade us all...we could rollerskate and hold hands. Olivia is probably the first true muse that I ever latched onto and I'm positive that I've watched the movie Xanadu at least 84 times. Oh, to be that blonde, Australian, and sing-songy. She even has perfect armpits...sigh.

Check out the Style.com article for the down and dirty details of the event.

Check out the video about the blood, sweat, and talent it takes to become a champion.

More to come...but for now, we'd like to thank Eric Majorelles and Kat Hennerty of East Coast Aliens and Brooklyn Glamour for a smashing success of an event.
